Sherri Cauthen, MSW, LCSW, RPT-S, IECMH-C, is a compassionate and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor with over 20 years of dedication to supporting children, adolescents, and families. A graduate of The University of Maine, Sherri specializes in working with neurodivergent children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and their families. Her affirming, strengths-based approach fosters connection, resilience, and growth, creating safe and inclusive spaces where children and families feel seen, valued, and empowered.

Sherri Cauthen, MSW, LCSW, RPT-S, IECMH-C, is a compassionate and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor with over 20 years of dedication to supporting children, adolescents, and families. A graduate of The University of Maine, Sherri specializes in working with neurodivergent children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and their families. Her affirming, strengths-based approach fosters connection, resilience, and growth, creating safe and inclusive spaces where children and families feel seen, valued, and empowered.

Sherri is trained in Autplay Therapy, a play-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach that combines the principles of play therapy and behavioral therapy to support the unique needs of children with ASD. She also incorporates evidence-based modalities such as Adlerian Play Therapy, sandtray therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) to address emotional regulation, impulse control, social engagement, and family dynamics.

Recognized as an International Credentialed Sandtray Therapist, Sherri uses creative and expressive interventions to help children and families communicate, process emotions, and strengthen relationships. She collaborates closely with families to tailor interventions that honor each child’s unique strengths and foster meaningful growth.

Sherri is deeply committed to empowering neurodivergent children and their families through advocacy and education, particularly in navigating special education systems. Her empathetic, trauma-informed approach emphasizes the purposefulness of behaviors, encouraging families to build deeper understanding and connections while fostering a sense of belonging and hope.
