Bio

Kathryn provides encouragement, support, and guidance to older adults and their family members who may be struggling with various issues, including the aging process, chronic and acute illnesses, caregiving, role identity, grief, and loss. She provides a safe space where clients find acceptance, understanding, and encouragement as they navigate the twists and turns of life. She is a community-based clinician. Clients have the option to meet with Kathryn at the JF&CS Dunwoody office or in their own homes.

Kathryn graduated with a master’s degree in social work from University of Georgia. Over the past 20 years, she has enjoyed meeting new people and providing care to diverse populations. She spent four years as a pediatric neuro-oncology Social Worker at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, caring for children diagnosed with brain tumors and providing comfort and resources to their families.

As an interviewer for a homelessness prevention program, she met with homeless, mentally ill adults on the streets of Washington, D.C. to identify challenges they faced with maintaining permanent housing. As a medical social worker in Baltimore, she provided trauma support and crisis counseling to patients in the emergency room of The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Most recently, Kathryn was a hospice social worker and worked closely with terminally ill patients and their families to enhance the quality of their lives and provide support at end of life. She cared for hospice patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, and it was in this capacity that she discovered her passion for working with older adults.
