Bio
Dr. Amy Silverman received her bachelor's degree from Brandeis University and master and doctoral degrees in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. She is happy to be back working as a clinical psychologist at JF&CS. It was her first job in Atlanta after moving to town with her family almost 18 years ago. In addition to working at JF&CS, Dr. Silverman has worked as a clinical psychologist in a number of different clinical settings in Atlanta including Georgia State University's Regents Center for Learning Disorders, The Levin Center, Spitalnick & Associates, and has had her own private practice for the past 5 1/2 years. Prior to moving to Atlanta, she worked as a clinical psychologist at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Hennepin County Medical Center, and the University of Maryland. She specializes in conducting comprehensive psycho-educational and psychological evaluations for learning disabilities, ADHD, and emotional and behavioral disorders across the lifespan.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Silverman has a strong research background that has involved studying the effects of witnessing family violence, bullying, and teen dating violence. She also has expertise in conducting research in school settings. Dr. Silverman was awarded a two-year American Psychological Association-Institute of Education Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowship that focused on conducting program evaluation in educational settings and then worked for a year as a Program Officer at the Institute of Educational Sciences in Washington, D.C. Her research included conducting program evaluation in school settings, instrument and survey development, and conducting multi-site research projects.
