Over the past eight years she has shifted her focus to the academic side of aging managing the Emory Senior Mentor Program, OLLI at Emory, and the CLSM community learning and social medicine course at the Emory School of Medicine. The Emory Senior Mentor Program trained and prepared future health care professionals for the quickly growing, aging, baby boom population. Students gained real life experience and developed skills on how to properly interact and work with older adults as well as colleagues in other disciplines.

Through the OLLI program Jessica helped to provide an outlet for older adults to stay engaged in their community, have meaningful purpose to their days, and continue to learn and grow. In the community learning program Jessica placed students with organizations that serve vulnerable populations providing the students with an opportunity to engage and learn about their needs.

Jessica is grateful for the experience she gained at Emory University in building relationships with community partners and is eager to incorporate that work into serving the needs of older adults and families as a Geriatric Care Manager.
