Bio
Melissa Fishbein is finishing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University to become an LPC. Melissa’s approach to counseling embraces both children and adults as they navigate various stages of life. She seeks to inspire and empower individuals as they overcome and grow through the challenges life may deliver.
Melissa’s work with children and adults utilizes strengths based therapy approach, emotionally focused therapy as well as aspects of CBT and ACT.
When working with children, she believes in the potential of every child and works to help kids find that within themselves. She loves to remind children and parents that “teenagers are the best-agers!” Additionally, she works to help parents to parent intentionally.
Melissa enjoys working with women as they traverse life stages, including fertility challenges, post-partum and into menopause.
Before beginning graduate school, she spent more than 20 years with children and adolescents, as a classroom teacher, teaching grades 5 - 8 and personally mastering the “art of parenting” with her own children.
Melissa has been an active volunteer in DeKalb County public schools. She enjoys lots of walks with her pup, cheering on her kids in all of their endeavors and planning travel adventures for her family.
