Bio

Yael graduated with a bachelor’s, honors and master’s degrees in clinical social work from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She has worked as a Clinical Social Worker at JF&CS since 1986. Before joining the Clinical Department at JF&CS, Yael worked in a variety of settings including resettlement, psychiatric day program, inpatient recovery program and geriatrics. She has a broad range of clinical interests including transitions across the life cycle, Holocaust-related concerns, medical illness, mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, geographical relocation, grief and loss, and crisis management.

When available, she speaks on requested topic presentations, related to coping with cancer and verbal behavior de-escalation, to various organizations. Additionally, Yael co-facilitates a discussion group for Child Survivors of the Holocaust.
