Bio

Susan is a licensed social worker with over 25 years in the field of geriatrics. After receiving her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia, Susan held several positions within the Aviv Older Adults division at JF&CS. She launched the agency’s first comprehensive home care program overseeing a team of certified nursing assistance providing non-medical home care to seniors in their homes. She then initiated the Geriatric Care Management program and managed the Holocaust Survivors program. For this work she was named “JF&CS Employee of the Year.”

After 13 years with JF&CS, Susan decided to broaden her knowledge of geriatrics by working in a healthcare system. She accepted a position with Piedmont Healthcare where she was the Sixty Plus Program Manager. In this role, Susan managed social workers and RNs who provided geriatric care management and coordination of care to Piedmont patients.

After working several years in the healthcare system, Susan left Piedmont to explore other interests before returning to JF&CS in her current role as Wellness Specialist at Hearthside Club Lafayette in Fayetteville. In this position, she organizes wellness-oriented educational programs and activities focused on empowering the Hearthside residents. In addition, Susan meets with individual residents to connect them with community services that enable them to remain independent in their apartments.

She loves having the opportunity to learn about the life experiences and hear the stories of the residents she serves.
