One Good Deed, a program of Aviv Older Adult Services, matches volunteers with older adults for friendship and companionship. Since 2006, more than 500 matches have been made. Here is an example of such a match that was recently highlighted in The Federation Five.
"As soon as both Brian and Leonard were both fully vaccinated, they arranged to meet. Brian had previously said on a FaceTime call, 'I look forward to the day when it’s safe enough to meet in person.'
Now it’s happening! So far, the pair have enjoyed lunch together and a tour of Tucker, where Leonard lives. Brian reciprocated with an incredible treat for Leonard who had not been to a baseball game in four years — he got tickets to a Braves game, and they sat right behind the dugout, where both enjoyed complimentary food and beverages!" - Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta
During the pandemic, the social connections between our One Good Deed matches were limited to regular phone calls. Now that restrictions are being lifted, requests for in-person visits are growing. We are looking for more adults who are ready, willing, and able to become a One Good Deed Volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering with One Good Deed, click here.
