Young Volunteers from Etz Chaim sort donations with Gabe Fleming (Food Pantry Manager)
JF&CS’ annual High Holiday Food Drive wrapped up on October 16, collecting an impressive 14,000 pounds of food for the Kosher Food Pantry (KFP).
"I am so thrilled to see how much food was collected during the High Holidays,” said Food Pantry Manager Gabe Fleming. “It is inspiring to see the community come together for such a good cause. We will be able to help so many families with this food!"
The 67 barrels collected will provide for about a month of distributions at the KFP. This year, the top collection site was Congregation Etz Chaim with 1500 pounds of food. Congregation Dor Tamid collected three times as much as their two barrels could hold at 1200 pounds. Three new donation businesses participated in the Food Drive this year: London Fitness, Warner Bros. Discovery, and The Renaissance Senior Living.
(L to R): JFCS CEO Terri Bonoff, Dayna Royal (Kay Leadership Cohort), Ellen Feinsand (JFCS Board Member), Melana McClatchey (Kay Leadership Cohort) and family.
