Shifting Perspectives: Understanding and Celebrating Neurodiversity

Every child thinks in their own special way, which is the beauty of neurodiversity. By learning to understand it, parents can help every child reach their full potential.

As BeWellATL Community Outreach Coordinator Jessica Sacks explains, “our goal is to help parents understand what neurodiversity really means, recognize the strengths it brings, and learn to celebrate it instead of fearing it.”

On September 17th from 12-1:30p.m, BeWellATL will welcome back Neurodiversity Inclusion Specialist Jenna Sommar for Shifting Perspectives. The workshop for parents will provide a clear, practical overview of neurodiversity with a focus on autism, and Jenna will share strategies for supporting children at home, in school, and in the community.

The workshop will wrap up with a live Q&A, giving parents the opportunity to ask questions, address specific concerns, and leave with actionable tools. Because when we truly understand and celebrate the many ways our brains work, we can build communities that are not just inclusive, but empowering.

While this event is tailored for parents, there will also be a dedicated session for educators. Teachers and school staff can contact Jessica at jsacks@jfcsatl.org for more information.

BeWellATL is the Atlanta chapter of a national initiative dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of young people. We offer resources, education, and community partnerships that empower children, teens, and their families to thrive. By reducing stigma and expanding access to care, BeWellATL works to ensure every young person has the support they need to grow, flourish, and reach their full potential.
