On Sunday, September 14, 2025, young adults from across Atlanta will gather for one of JF&CS’ most beloved traditions: Young Professional Mitzvah Day. The event offers the chance to meet new people and see the tangible difference that time and energy make in the lives of others. Plus, there’s a Happy Hour!
“It’s an honor to be part of JF&CS’ Mitzvah Day and see the amazing energy our volunteers bring to every project,” says Sarah Bernstein, Special Events and Young Professional Manager. “Watching young professionals come together to support our clients, connect with our community partners, and see the direct impact of their work is inspiring. Year after year, we are lucky to have a strong young professional community that shows up with enthusiasm and heart.”
From 1–3:30 PM, participants will dive into hands-on projects that support JF&CS clients in meaningful ways. Volunteers will assemble sensory kits for children receiving support in the Horwitz-Zusman Child & Family Center, pack care packages for older adults through Aviv, and prepare Rosh Hashanah gift bags. For the first time, Holocaust Survivors will be present to participate in this inspiring day of giving, adding a layer of reverence to the day of service.
Mitzvah Day is not only about volunteering, it's also about community in action. Participants will work alongside partners including Congregation B’nai Torah, Bar {n} Booze {n} Bites, La Dee Da Art Studio, Repair the World Atlanta, The Temple, and the Young Leadership Division. Together, these collaborations create a space where acts of service ripple outward into the community.
The excitement will continue with a Happy Hour at 4 PM where volunteers will celebrate their efforts, share stories from the day, and make connections over drinks and snacks. For $36, participants receive all the supplies needed for one project plus access to the post-project gathering.
Mitzvah Day offers the chance to be part of something bigger, meet new people, and experience the heart of Atlanta’s young professional community in action.
