Make Your Summer Count: Volunteer Anytime, Anywhere

Looking for a way to make this summer more meaningful and fun? Whether you're spending time with family and friends, planning a team-building day with coworkers, or just trying to keep kids occupied, our group and remote volunteer opportunities at JF&CS are easy, impactful ways to give back—no matter where you are.

“These kinds of projects are perfect for families and teens looking to make their time together more purposeful,” says Megan Koziel, LMSW, JF&CS Volunteer Engagement Manager. “We see so much joy when people come together to help others — and these opportunities are flexible, creative, and impactful.”

Turning Talent into Purpose

While we have several ways to get involved, two stand out as great summer projects that are both highly customizable and flexible with a relaxed summer schedule:

Grassroots Fundraisers: Lemonade Stands and more!

Kids of all ages can get creative by planning a fundraiser that fits their interest and community. Hosting a lemonade stand, bake sale or craft market is a great way to keep kids engaged while connecting with the community—not to mention, it’s tons of fun!

Whether you want to make lemonade, bake brownies or crochet axolotols, we have guides to getting started, helpful suggestions, and more to set your group up for success. When young people share their talents and raise money to help others in the process, core memories are sure to follow!

Preparing meals for participants in our Zimmerman-Horowitz Independent Living Program (Z-H ILP):

Prepare nutritious meals for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) who care for them. In the Z-H ILP, residents and DSP’s cook and share meals together every night, but like anyone else, they welcome a night off from cooking!

Not sure what to make? We have a book of crowd-pleasing, nutritious recipes that are easy to make and already scaled to feed a larger group. These tried-and-true favorites are a great place to start. Once the meal is cooked and packed in disposable containers, it can be delivered to JF&CS in Dunwoody, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Whether you want to plan a one-time project or build a tradition that lasts all summer, we’ve made it easy to get started. Our step-by-step guides and volunteer support will help you turn any gathering into something meaningful. You can explore all current group and remote volunteer opportunities here.
