Here for You: JF&CS Launches Community Response Initiative

In times of crisis, our communities need support that is compassionate, timely, and responsive to their unique situations. At JF&CS, we have launched a new Community Response Initiative designed to provide short-term, group-based mental health support tailored to those affected by traumatic events.

This initiative addresses a gap between individual therapy and group interventions by offering immediate, focused care to groups- such as families impacted by a local tragedy, college students navigating antisemitism, and the like. We understand that not everyone needs ongoing, individual therapy, but many benefit from guided processing and emotional support in a safe, confidential space.

Clinical Expertise and Community Partnership

Our clinical team, led by Galina Tobin, Ph.D., LPC, RPT, CPCS, and Anat Granath, MSW, works closely with the community to assess needs and determine the best approach to care. While we listen carefully and engage collaboratively, all clinical decisions are ultimately guided by our licensed clinicians’ expertise to ensure the best type of appropriate, professional support.

In recent weeks, our clinicians have partnered with individuals, synagogues, schools, and campus organizations to offer confidential support, including remote workshops and in-person processing sessions for those impacted by traumatic events — from Israel-related travel and campus safety concerns to local tragedies. These one-time “heart-to-heart” gatherings create space for reflection, connection, and healing, even for those not seeking ongoing therapy.
